UPVC Replacement Door Handles
As time passes, the handles on your doors will wear down and require replacement. In this case, it is essential that the new handles match the critical dimensions of the previous handle.
The three measurements you need to examine are the top screw's position the lever and key hole sizes. Use the size guide to help you.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever handle is a modern door handle designed to suit new or replacement doors. This type of door handle is available in a variety of designs and finishes. A number of manufacturers make this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The uPVC/Composite door handles are made of robust materials and are ideal for multi-point lock doors that require a heavy duty design. The handles are inline, and they use the same screws and spindle to fix them. They can be easily mounted on any uPVC/Composite door.
The sprung lever design allows the handle to be positioned and angled to provide a comfortable grip and is suitable for all users. The handle has been endurance-tested to 200,000 cycles. This ensures that the quality of finish and performance is maintained over time. The sprung lever can be reduced to accommodate the widest range of locks. This is particularly useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is situated further away from the door. A lever that is shorter can be used for doors with a latch that can be opened by the thumb on the inside.
upvc door handle Pad
The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles that are found on most doors. These handle types can either use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are commonly employed on UPVC doors with double glazing. They are available in a variety of finishes and variations.
The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in various finishes, including White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This gives the handle the best performance and durability to serve its intended purpose.
All UPVC lever pads for handles come with a spindle, screws and can be mounted on a uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixation centres allow for a wider handle, which is often beneficial when replacing an old or faulty multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers come with springs, which eliminate the issue of door handles that sag out of horizontal position when not being used.
When selecting the replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is important to match the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement is often called the "handle centre" or "cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect of matching up the right handles.
Once you have the proper PZ size you will then need to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are of a suitable shape for the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you need for your doors. They typically have a square or round shape with an internal lever and external push pad.
Most of the UPVC lever pads that we offer are sprung, which means that they return to their horizontal position when they are not in use, rather than hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This prevents drafts and cold air from entering a property. Also, the majority of the UPVC handle lever pad style handles are swivel that allows you to put them on either side of the door.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are typically used on uPVC doors, but they can also be used on other types of doors. Cylinder locks are operated by a key which unlocks the cylinder's case. This reveals pins that can be aligned to those in the lock and allow them to rotate the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins, with external and internal doors typically requiring different levels of security.
Selecting the right cylinder for your needs is vitally important; this depends on how your doors and handle are utilized. For example, external doors require a higher security cylinder, while doors inside can be secured using the standard cylinder. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that can increase security, such as anti-drill or anti bump properties.
A euro cylinder must be properly measured to ensure that it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, should there be one. If you cannot measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can remove it. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon may be vulnerable to attacks such as snapping locks, therefore it is essential to make sure it's not too long.
The majority of modern cylinders have been constructed with anti-drill and bump resistance features that are built into their design. These are designed to reduce attack chances by forcing the cylinders to turn in a different direction. This can help to deflect an attack and protect your door.
Certain cylinders are constructed to resist snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the break line of the lock and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is faster and easier to achieve than opening the door with multipoint locks and leaves no evidence of a break-in which can impede the insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
This spring cassette sits in the base of your door handle's backplate, supplying a spring-loaded solution and returning the multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after use. There was a time when these types of handle did not have a spring built into them, and without it they can droop or 'drop' once the locking mechanism is disengaged. This simple feature is one of the best methods to correct this issue and is an excellent way to stop your upvc doors from getting stuck in an open or closed position, as these aren't always easy to close manually.
These spring cassettes are specifically designed for use with multipoint locks sprung but they won't work with unsprung multipoint handles and you will require a hole specifically cut in the backplate to allow them to fit (please check the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes are a solution for damaged or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are available as a single unit. They come with a square cut out that can accommodate an 8mm shaft.
These spring cassettes provide an excellent value solution to the issue of door handles that are sagging. These spring cassettes are easy to install and will extend the lifespan of your uPVC door.
